Career overview

I began my academic journey at Rand Afrikaans University (now the University of Johannesburg) in January 1991, completing my B-Com degree and B-Com Honours by the end of 1994. Following this, I commenced my SAICA articles at KPMG Johannesburg. In my second year of articles, KPMG transitioned to specialization units, and I joined the Industrial Audit department. I stayed on as a manager and later became a senior manager within the firm.

During an audit engagement with National Brands Limited, I was offered a role by the client, which I accepted. While this experience offered significant learning opportunities, I missed the audit environment and, in September 2011, joined Sytz Consulting, a sole proprietorship. There, I handled audits for a large hospital/medical group and later took on responsibilities for individual taxes and preparing financial statements for small businesses.

KPMG later approached me to rejoin as a Senior Manager in the Industrial, Automotive, and pharmaceutical division. Seeking further growth, I moved into the Internal Audit, Risk, and Compliance department, where I gained valuable experience in business risk identification and internal controls auditing.

With small children at the time, I decided to prioritize work-life balance and joined deKockReinecke as an audit partner to reduce travel and gain flexibility. Eventually, I co-founded Inyani Auditors Inc. and Inyani Business Solutions, where I now oversee a team of 15, focusing on their development and growth.

Career Highlights:

  • Completing my B-Com and B-Com Honours degrees
  • Passing the SAICA Board exam on my first attempt
  • My time at KPMG stands out as a significant professional and personal development phase, offering both technical and professional skills that have been invaluable in my career
  • Working with exceptional individuals at each organization has shaped me both professionally and personally
  • The biggest highlight of recent times is founding Inyani Auditors Inc. and Inyani Business Solutions and having the privilege of leading and nurturing a team of 15 people
  • Excited to be part of the evolving journey at Inyani and confident in the great heights our team will achieve together
